According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.52 km2), all of it land.
As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 185 people, 75 households, and 54 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,240.3 people per square mile (476.2/km²). There were 79 housing units at an average density of 529.7 per square mile (203.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 99.46% White, and 0.54% from two or more races.
There were 75 households out of which 30.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.7% were married couples living together, 17.3% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.0% were non-families. 26.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.98.
In the town the population was spread out with 23.2% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 27.0% from 25 to 44, 25.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.1% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 105.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.0 males.

"The Mill" is an historical landmark in this old town of Cedar Grove. "The Mill" has always been a focal point of the town and a place of gathering. It has been rumored (and may still be true today) that “The Mill” has been the host of an underground casino and strip club. This rumor dates back to the turn of the century. It is even believed that "The Mill" was host to a major distillery during the prohibition and was used to transport moonshine up and down the whitewater river.
